Its reputation for reliability, expertise and uncompromising quality has made its floats the standard for many users in the industry. To maintain and ensure the highest quality possible, all Naugatuck floats are manufactured in-house and each is fully tested and inspected before leaving the facility. All products are fully warranted for both material defects and workmanship. Naugatuck offers a full range of sizes, materials and configurations. Many of the floats displayed on this web site are in stock and available for immediate shipment. Stainless Steel Tubed-Through Magnetic FloatsTubed magnetic floats, used for reed switch activation, have a hollow tubed connection running through them. Naugatuck's stainless steel floats have become standard equipment where strength, minimum corrodibility and maximum buoyancy are necessary. They are manufactured by welding two drawn half shells together. The welding process is critical for the strength and durability of the float. Naugatuck has developed a full penetration weld that provides a smoothly finished seam, hardly distinguishable from the rest of the float surface. When ordering stainless steel tubed-through magnetic floats you will need to specify: Shape and Dimensions Material Gauge and Grade Operating Temperature Specific Gravity and Pressure Requirements Liquid medium Copper FloatsNaugatuck manufactures copper floats, typically used in open tank applications, in a variety of sizes, shapes and styles including spherical, oblong and canister. Naugatuck's copper float balls are manufactured from two separate shells. These base shells are pressed from sheet copper into true spherical or cylindrical forms with uniform curvature and wall thickness. To join the two shells without annealing the copper, an overlapping soldered joint is employed. This is made extra wide for ample strength and overlapped internally to preserve the true spherical shape of the float. The recess formed in the upper shell is held to close tolerance, then flooded with a special high temperature, non-toxic solder. In the completed joint, the end of one shell rests tightly against the metal offset at the base of the recess to eliminate any stress on the solder joint. Naugatuck maintains in- stock inventory ready for next-day shipment on the following configured copper floats: Spherical with no connection Spherical with single threaded connection Spherical tube connection for rod Oblong single threaded connector Oblong tube connection for rod Canister with single threaded connection When ordering copper floats you will need to specify: Shape and Dimensions: Spud connection shape - hexagon or round Threaded Connection - pipe size or SAE screw thread Material Gauge Operating Temperature Pressure Requirements Liquid medium Naugatuck will also design your floats and custom-make them to your specifications. Aluminum FloatsAluminum floats are available in a wide variety of configurations to meet your special needs or they can be designed to your specifications. They are lightweight with elector beam welded joints. Be assured they are pressure-tested to ensure reliability. Plastic and Rigid Closed Cell Foam FloatsNaugatuck also offers a full line of high impact polystyrene and rigid closed- cells floats. They are lighter than metallic floats, will not corrode, are unaffected by salt and are more buoyant.
